So who's still down for at least a "maybe"? Don't think it's going to be the best of weather. Went to the bottle shop tonight just in case we have to batten the hatches.... |

I'm leaving the call to Slaughter after all it's his lake and he will be the one held responsible should I not enjoy myself. Seriously Slaughter your up there, wind predictions are 20knots Fri & Sat, camping ground may be a little damp, what yu rekon. CGM and I can always have a sail in Sydney. |

Yeah, think it could still be a bit soggy. Heard there were some roads up there flooded also. Might have to take a raincheck on this one. |

Even though I own the Lake ie: It's mine, I still don't own the weather.... yet. It's still looking good so far as per the SeaBreeze and WillyWeather. There will only be the 3 of us and personally I can only do Saturday. As I was predicting I will have to work tomorrow, Friday, and I have family commitments Sunday. So a Saturday sail is about all I can do. The only negative with the campsite is, as you guessed Dave, It is pretty sodden, ( there is a reson for that lush green grass ) but I hoped the high winds we have been having would have dried it out a bit. However it's a long drive for you blokes and I'm thinking a Sydney sail or similar for you 2 would possibly be a better option unfortunately. A weekend, or longer, on the Lake and camping at Wangi will be perfect when the conditions are a bit more favorable. If I lived in Sydney, I think that's what I would be doing. But please let me know your thoughts and if you want to chance it. |

I would like to see your lake at its best and all of it, so I confirm I will not be visiting at this time, however I'm keen to have another go in the future. I must have a sail this weekend or I'll have to be re-trained, so CGM are you interested in a high speed reach up and down the harbour from Lane Cove Fri, Sat or Sun or other suggestions? Slaughter thanks for your effort and I look forward to a voyage soon. |

I hereby rename Lake Macquarie - "Lake Slaughter". Sounds inviting, doesn't it? @Slaughter - What do we hammock dwellers care about soggy ground? Such concerns are only for the groundlings. |

Don't speak too loud Chris or Lake Macquarie City Coucil will up my rates. With the hammock I've found that the more I use it, the more comfortable I get. I reckon half of the comfort is being confident that it's not going to give way in the middle of the night. I took it to a party up the bush the other week, and trying to get into it, and all zipped up in my bag, after helping remove a large portion in the keg, was a real challenge. But I'm told that it provided some good entertainment to the others. |

I've found trying to use a zipped up sleeping bag inside the hammock nigh on impossible. The trick is to get the undercover, to keep you warm from below (yeah, more money ). Then just use the sleeping bag like a blanket - much more comfy. |

Yeah, I use an undercover, or one of those bed roll camping sponges cause my hammock is the zip side rather than the slit bottom. But my sleeping bag is a mummy type so even when it's opened it isn't all that wide. It was pretty cold up the bush party so I was interested to see how cold it was going to be in the hammock. Trouble is I still don't know. It could have been -20 C and I wouldn't have felt it due to the anesthetic I had consumed. |
