I'm planning a mid-morning launch from Fort Baker on Sunday, May 25. Planning on sailing to Angel Island, with a stop for lunch. Would be great to have some company. So far I have two HI going. Low tide is at 11:30. This will be my first launch from Fort Baker. There is a sign stating that you can not launch at low tide as the bottom end of the ramp is missing. I hope this will not hurt launching an Island from it. Right next to the ramp is a small pebble beach I think I could also launch from.

Monday I will be going down to Moss Landing for some whale watching. Sorry for the late notice. Will give out more details if you want to meetup.

Finally registered after lurking on these forums for a long time :)
We're fellow SF Bay Area TI owners (and TI newbies) and generally have Fri-Sat off to go out and play.
Have explored the Bay and have gone outside the 'gate in our Revo 13 and Adventure kayaks. We usually launch from the Ft Baker launch.
Looking forward to meeting fellow TI/AI adventurers.

(Anyone planning on going to Sausalito Summer Sailstice?)

Welcome papayas! The Sausalito Sailstice sounds like a blast! Would definitely go if not for fathers's day duties. It would be great to organize an Islands sail on the bay in the coming weeks. Anybody up for July 3?

Anyone interested in Whale watching July 3rd, or at least sailing out in the ocean at Moss Landing. Currently we have three TI's going. We will be launching at about 10 am. Weather outlook, partly cloudy, temp to 70, winds to 11 mph. Launch fee is a little steep at $17 for trailer-ed boats, it is less for car topped. Fee is cash only and they do not have a change machine. PM for more info or leave request here. Moss Landing is located at http://www.montereybaykayaks.com/monterey_and_elkhorn_slough/

Just got my AI in early June. I live in the Southern most portion of the bay, but can travel to other areas. I'm new to sailing, but seem to have a good feel for the AI (not that it's hard to do.) Would enjoy some company, stories and tips from others.

How is the fishing on the north side of the bay (i.e. Sausalito)?

Fishing is good up here. Loads of stripes on the rock piles, and quite a few halibut around. Haven't heard if any salmon at benecia or call city yet, but it's just a bit early still

I know it is late notice but there is live Jazz and Blues in Sausalito. It will happen at Gabrielson Park, which is between the ferry terminal and the Spinnaker Restaurant. If you miss this show they run every Friday through to August 23. Show time is 6:30 to 8:00. I will have a report and pictures later.

Hi All,

I'd like to check out Richardson Bay tomorrow. There are several ramps near Sausalito and I was wondering if anyone has experience and/or recommendations. Thanks for any help.

Sorry for the late reply. There is only one public ramp in Sausalito, it is the Turney Street Boat Ramp. I have been told there is no trailer parking anywhere near the site. None of the marinas in sausalito have public launching that I know about. You could try Fort Baker. Good parking, serviceable ramp, but no other services. Can be hard to get into and out of the harbor due to tidal current and wind. You could also try the public beach at the end of Liberty Ship Way. You would have to have a dolly with sand wheels. The pay lot will let you unload your kayak as long as you move your car after unloading. I have been told you can park at some of the office buildings during the weekends. WindToys demos Hobies at this beach every once in a while.

Maybe sailing isn't in the cards for me today?

I cobbled together this video from a recent day sail on the bay. We did Berkeley to Angel Island and back.
