Hi fellow hobie lovers.

This afternoon we took our first dip in a 2009 hobie IA and unfortunately it wasn't a pleasant trip. After about 10 seconds we noticed that the power of the drive was all but gone and then noticed one of the fins floating on the surface of the water. It looks as if the hole were the pin goes through has been torn or is it a fail safe slit. The manual doesn't really give you much info on the parts of the mirrage drive so i can't tell if its supposed to be like this? Please help.

Regards
Dave

Not supposed to have a slit. This fin has failed for some reason. Could be a molding problem, but we have noted an issue with aft fins failing when the drive is inserted incorrectly. Pedaling with the drive tipped forward forces the aft fin against the well and can tear them. Once the fin is replaced (we can warranty if this is a new boat) be sure to get the drive seated correctly. FAQ here: viewtopic.php?f=60&t=12836

Of course... see your dealer to get a replacement under warranty.
