Cool. I suspect a lot of the water I get in the hull is coming through that hatch. This new gasket, sealed to the hull flange, should help that.

Do we just order this from a dealer? Is it in the catalogue? I'm going to be in the USA in a couple weeks and could have one shipped directly to where I'll be staying. So I can smuggle it home with me.

I'd pay an additional 44% import duty if I had it shipped to me here, on top of a $ 100 cost to UPS. Grrrr. Dang. dagnabbit. And imagine even stronger invectives, if you can.

After a longish sail from Cinnamon Bay on St. John, USVI, to Great Tobago and back (16 nautical miles in all, with 4-5 foot seas), it was very difficult to drag the TI up the beach upon our return. The hull had over ten gallons of water in it, and the root cause was the bow hatch gasket, which had come loose while at the island, and escaped notice. This is a potential safety issue; I am ordering the new gasket today, and will make a visual inspection before setting out in the future!

Glad everyone is safe, Kevin. If you were further from land, this issue could have been a more serious emergency.

Hopefully, the new rubber Trim Lock will hold up better for us than the original ones installed at the factory.

You do have a bilge pump right?

What Tony said! And a big sponge. Both leashed somewhere (inside or out of the hull) where you can find them when you need them.

Don't leave home without them. :)

Seems like an ongoing concern, I searched “TI Hatch gasket” and found concerns for the past few years with recommendations for glues you might be interested in. I have a TI on order and any help from the Boston to New Hampshire areas on what to look for would be appreciated.

The new non-glued gasket should hold up better.

I used lacquer based (not water based) contacted cement and it's still stuck after 4 months. This contact cement we use to glue plastic laminated counter tops with.
