Hi all, when furling the sail on our TI (4 months old) after a post-sail wash-down, the white plastic bottom (luff end) batten pocket for the longest batten fell off. It appears the rivets pulled out. The plastic isn't cracked and several rivets look like they had a poor flare (I haven't taken pictures yet).

I have two questions:

1. My wife (front seater) had been complaining about difficulty furling the first third of the sail - could the batten pocket base have had anything to do with that? We only furl while pointing into wind and luffing, so we aren't furling under load;

2. Any recommended fix that maybe doesn't use rivets? Can I put it back on with s/s bolts and nuts? If so, what lengths do people recommend (I don't want to wear a hole in the sail).

thanks

smith

If it's only 4 months old I would say a visit to your dealer for a warranty claim.

Update: Contacted my dealer, I'm sending them photos, likely warranty replacement of the sail!

Your dealer might be able to rivet that back on.

Yeah, I'd be happy with a repair, as the sail's only new and still in good shape (I think its only had half a dozen outings). Dealer says they are waiting to hear from Hobie, but may need the sail to go back to the factory. If that happens, I hope they can lend me one while its being repaired.
