Hi. I have an early model of Hobie Island and I am very pleased :-) But it has become a little oval gap in the connection between aka and crossbar where you insert the stainless steel pin. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Going to need a picture to understand what is happening.

It's normal wear on older boats. Fill the hole with JBWeld and redrill it.

In rough, wavy conditions, these SS pins can "walk" out of loose holes. If you see this happening, use a small loop of bungee around the pin to hold it down after it's inserted.

We have found that gluing a small piece of cheap indoor/outdoor carpet on the flat end of the aka xbars fills and cushions the looseness, stopping the rattle and the wear seems to stop.Image
There are a few old posts about this like: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=13167&p=75628&hilit=rubber#p75628
