I recently purchased a revolution 13, and have noticed that one of the two bottom holes under hull (hole closest to mirage drive) has brass bolt exposed with jagged plastic around same. Is this normal or just a cosmetic issue? I figured for $2500 this would not be overlooked. I have a rev 11 on order and am reconsidering my purchase. The hole forward which connects to mast is flush with the hull.

One is for the fitting below the mast base. The second reinforces the forward ledge of the drive well. Both typically would have small caps (panel rivets) covering the threads. This is a molded-in fitting and some flashing (plastic bits) around them is normal. They can sometimes protrude a bit. This is normal for a roto-molded boat.

The threads are how the part is held into the mold. The threads do not extend through the brass and the brass parts are completely encased in plastic inside the boat.

thanks for reply, the brass bolt head itself is visible and protruding outside hull. it appears extra plastic was added as well. assuming this is not normal as other hole is flush and encased within hull.

Yes, they can sometimes protrude a bit as a bump on the bottom.

How about a photo?

For others reference:

That appears about normal. Bit of excess flashing that could be trimmed, but the white "panel rivet" normally protrudes like that. The brass looks flush as it should be. They are all a little different. They are bolted in the mold and have to be released at a specific time period as it cools and starts shrinking. The hulls actually shrink 4% from the size of the mold, so there is some movement happening inside the mold before it cools enough to pull the hull out of the mold.
