I was out sailing last night when I had my rudder lock down line break making it near impossible to control as the rudder rides up (I was being a bit rough with it through a kelp bed) Easy fix - Use the "Rudder Up" transportation bungee to hold the rudder down.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10214537515528460&set=pcb.10214537520288579&type=3&theater |

Glad to hear that works Nzindy. That's been my backup plan too but I have never actually tried it. I leave that bungee attached to the aft boat handle and slip it under the mast bungee while underway. It's ready if I need it. Good post. I know friends that have had that happen. Best to plan ahead. |

Clever, I'll have to remember that one. That would also help when the rudder pin breaks, and your running on the rudder safety strings. I don't know about anyone else, but I simply can't replace a broken rudder pin in rough seas, just too hard for me to do, believe me I've tried many times. FE |
