Ha ha, you have to be careful who you call a "Yankee".

I suppose to someone outside the US, everyone in the US is a Yankee. Here in the US, anyone born in the South (or even the Midwest or West) would never consider themselves a "Yankee". The only true Yankees are inhabitants of New England, or by extension, one of the northern Eastern states such as New York. And even in New England, if you call someone from Boston a "Yankee" they'll take offense if they are a Red Sox fan. That even applies to all of New England which is divided between the Boston Red Sox and the NY Yankees.

Complicated, eh?

Can sanding really help here? I am planning to get a new sander and I even found some available here and it is cool how they have done the reviews which make the job easier for you to choose one. I saw some videos online and people are doing some really cool stuff with their sanders, that is where I got interested in them. It looks cool, but I am not someone who is that skilled to make cool stuff like they do. Is it easier to do the work with sanders? They are not that expensive, but I still would not buy one if it does not make the job easier.

Another thing I did on many of my Hobies, (we had 8 all told), was to razor scrape the whole hull bottom, (it’s backbreaking work and takes many hours, ( just scraping takes over a day, that’s why we only did it annually). Then clean and degrease the hull with rubber cement thinner, ( called bestest rubber cement thinner over here, ( home depot). Which is heptane, (heptane melts polyethylene, and is the active ingredient in all the spray paints for plastics).
I then spray on a very thin coat of Krylon for plastics spray paint, clear coat. I then spray on the rustolium never wet. Which is a two step process, the first coat I put on a very thin light coat, (since I already have the krylon laid down), then quickly spray on the second coat of neverwet. This makes the boat repel water and I swear my boat was faster after application, (it was plenty fast already). After treatment I got the hull to last two seasons vs the previous 1 season.
All comes off easily with paint remover if you get tired of it.
