Next problem I want to address is the difficulty I'm having unfurling the sail. I can pull the mainsheet so far then the sail seems to jam. I'm reluctant to pull any harder as the mast is already bending at this point. I've been scooting forward and freeing it up by hand.

I'm wondering if the mast may be sitting a fraction low and friction is causing the bind. Have a look at the wear patterns on the mast and mast receiver.

Is that correctable? or even a problem? Maybe it just needs a bit of silicone lube? Or do I need to shim the base a bit?

Ideas? Suggestions?

Try placing a washer on top of the receiver pin, then step the mast? The would raise the mast a little to confirm the rubbing is or is not the issue?
