So I purchased two used hobies. Both were older sport models. One hobie came mirage drive came with a speadometer which I thought was really cool. I ended up selling one of the hobies and interchanged the mirage drive thinking they were universal. Big mistake. I sold the one hobie with the newer v2 drive, and I kept the newer hobie with the v1 drive. Well it doesn’t fit and I don’t know what to do.

The drive spine has two points on it (front and back) that keep it from setting all the way down into the hull. It sits too high and you can’t even pedal or lock the drive in place. Should I cut the front and rear points off the mirage drive spine?? Will that affect it wobbling when I pedal?

How can I make the v1 drive fit my hobie mirage sport?

You can cut the two prongs off. BTDT

You could file o fit, but don't cut the front and rear off the drive. These are required to rest on the well ledges.

Hi Matt! Thanks for your reply! Would you know if it’s possible to maybe purchase the spine and transfer all the parts over? I’ll upload pictures soon. Filling to fit I’m not sure if that will work it would be quite a bit to take off. Or would a newer mirage drive fit if I file off the alignment guides? Thank you all for the replies!

I'm very surprised that it does not fit. Spines change very little over the years. Is the sprocket shaft out of position?
