It's very difficult to affect a successful large-sized hull breach repair on a polyethylene hull because of its very low surface energy of around 31 dynes/cm. Almost nothing will adhere well enough to it to ensure a reliable, long-term repair. The usual solution is a hull replacement. However, the use of two well-fabricated, flexible metal plates with rubber membranes between them is very clever. From what I can see, it should work. Nicely done! Thank you for documenting that, it can serve as a tutorial for other such repairs. The trick would be to have it done for well under the cost of a new hull. |

Good job on the repair in a very difficult location. Looks to be stronger than the original. Perhaps a fore runner to a stronger design. |
