Post subject:  Looking for V1 aka's

Hi all, I have an older AI with the V1 aka's (stainless steel pin connection). The front and rear aka's on the left side got bent by the previous owner so they no longer meet up with the ama's. Where the aka's curve down got bent further so the curved metal was flattened and cracked a little. I have a picture but am not sure how to insert it.

The aka's have been discontinued and I can't find them anywhere. Putting a long shot out there that someone may have a rear left side and front aka they would want to sell or knows of any available. If not, any tips on how to repair? Thanks a ton!!

I was able to find a used set from a shop in Florida and have them shipped to me!

Post pictures. I posted how to share google photos here: https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=68730

Reason is you might be able to salvage you original AKAs. It will take some Frankenstein fabrication, but you could have a shop repair them. They might be able to cut out the broke section and weld in a bent tubular T6 AL section?

Thanks Roy, I'm all set with the replacement set I found, but I did take the original set to a metal fabrication shop (only one in the area) and they gave me some steep quotes ($600 - over $1,000) and still recommended against it. The original set was smashed flat in the curved section and cracked on both sides.

I appreciate the follow up and help with posting pics in the future!

Most excellent, as Bill or Ted, forgot which one?

BTW, I have two AI's now, one with the older AKA>X-Bar connection and one with the new. I DO NOT like the new connection, no where near as solid a connection, then sure do "clank" a lot on the water. I "guess" Hobie catered to the crowd that was frustrated with connecting the old style?

I've heard that, I was very happy to find a set of V1's as my other option would have been to convert over to the newer style. All good for now! :)
