I tried the placemat/rug holder method with limited success. Material was too flimsy to stay in place.

While at IKEA the other day I picked up a rubber bathmat ($2.99) and cut it out to match the bottom of the seat (with cutout for seat pegs) and installed it with the suction cups down to the hull. Seems to be working fine after a couple of times out. Also adds a bit of cushioning which is a plus.

That sounds a great idea. Bit more cushioning.

why not put in some velcro on the bottom of the seat and then you wouldnt even need the pegs, the non slip is pretty neat aswell.

I just gave in and purchased the new expander plugs from a Hobie dealer. I have two AI's so I bought one pair and use one plug on each boat and they hold just fine. Well worth the money.

I and my wife (she was in her new AI) just finished a 6-day AI camping trip. Before the trip, I put in Hobie's new expandible pegs on both boats. They work fine--no problems the whole trip.

I needed to do something for my seat because the drawer non-slip stuff was breaking down and the seat was slipping. The new pegs are worth the money.
