Hi

I'm sorry if this has been discussed before. I looked for it, but didn't find it.

My kayak is taking in water and today I decided to find out where it's coming in.

After filling up the kayak with water I noticed it started leaking rapidly, when the water lever was where the 360 cable is going though the hull. When I emptied the kayak the leak stopped when it was just under the point where the 360 cable is going out. So it was pretty obvious.

I am no where near the limit in weight of how much I can load the kayak.

The kayak had taking in a bit over a gallon of water in just a few hours.

Is this a known problem, and what can be done to fix it?

I hope someone can help.

Much appreciated.

Br
Dennis

The tube for the Belt is above waterline if being used below capacity and not with a bow motor... if you have a lot of weight or use a motor the capacity goes down due to water rushing up into the tube.
Also make sure the inside tube seal is tight - there are two clear tubes that are zip tied down tight over the top pf the aluminum belt housing tube - but again - the steering belt system would leak if submerged.... but that shouldn't be a factor as long as you aren't overloaded or running with more weight up front in the bow - or standing a lot - make sure balance of the kayak is flat. as the 360 mechanism exits the cassette well above the waterline in normal conditions. If you are taking water up though the well - make sure it isn't going into the front horizontal rod holders - those also be leak - but again - if the boat is balance and not overloaded or being motored.. water shouldn't come up over the cockpit deck and wash forward.. (but check those tubes are seals on the front tips just in case)
