installing trolling motor in the mirage drive opening

I have 2016 PA12. I have seen video on shortening a trolling motor shaft and inserting the shortened shaft thru the plastic mirage drive block which would lock in the trolling motor. Has anyone done this and what trolling motor would be best? I think they used a MInn Kota trolling motor.

I use a Bixpy in the mirage drive opening. Some folks prefer back mounted because then you also have the ability to use the mirage drive.

But for me anyhow it works well. I fish the ocean so depth of the motor is not an issue and it takes me to my favorite spots, I have a paddle if the need arises.

The Minn Kota will definitely go faster than a Bixpy, but the con is you need a way bigger battery.
