Post subject: | Pro Angler storage question |
Hey guys, I just got my pro angler and had a few questions on storage. The manual states it can lay flat , on one end, by one end do they mean up on the bow/stern or can it be on its side port/starb. ? I will be mostly storing outside and would like to if possible store it flat on the ground or on one side not up on the bow or stern, is there any problem with decreasing the lifespan of the kayak this way? I will be storing the kayak in a garage in winter and was wondering what the best way to store this thing is for longevity whether to just put it on foam insulation , two wood beams , or if i need special saddles or anything like that. Could you guys please suggest how i can store this thing both indoors and out. thanks. |

I'm storing mine outside all year-round, in the winter it's covered with a tarp. Mine is always stored flat, as the dealer suggested. |

I store mine flat in my shop year round. When we on vacation is SC I kept her outside in the shade. I need to post up some pics of that trip, the PA got visited by some thick Reds. |

I store my PA in my garage on a platorm lift. Here's a post that shows my setup. http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=21661 Hobie and my dealer recommended against storing the PA flat on its hull as this could cause derformation in the plastic. They recommended flipping the boat or storing it on its side. As you can see, I store mine upside down so the weight is on the gunnels and the hand rails, which are the strongest part of the boat. My brother stores his outside under his deck. He flips it upside down on a wood patio under the upper deck and runs a thick cable lock through the Mirage drive well and around one of the 6x6 deck posts. TDK |

so even though the manual says okay to lay flat on the hull , you guys rec. tipping it over on the side on one of the hand rails or whatever if i cant put it up on a lift , upside down is kind of a pain because of my acc. mounted they would probly snap off without removal, so i can just put her on the port or starb? side , i feel like the thing flexes more when i tilt it on a side than when its flat on the ground. any suggestions? |

I store mine on its side in the Talic racks. Works perfectly. |
