Hi i tried out my Hobie livewell on my Pro angler and i couldn't get the pump to prime from pedalling, i filled the tank manually untill the pump was compleatly submerged and then it worked, have i got a dud unit or whats the best method to prime the pump. The pickup was facing forward and sits about 1" -1 1/4" (25-30mm) under the hull.
Regards Bill.

I know this may sound dumb but, it happened to me. I forgot to take the black cap off of the outlet on the pump itself the first time I used it. I was umm "a little embarrassed." Hey! It LOOKED like it was part of the pump. What can I say....
Works great without it...

Frequently, my tank will be hard to prime....usually if I peddle hard for a minute or two, the pump begins to prime. Check the impeller in the pump too.

Be sure you use the longer intake tube and position the cup forward.

I have also been having problems with the pump priming. I know the pump works (I tested it), and the cup is facing forward. The cup does protrude from the scupper hole, but not entirely. It still seems like it should force the water up to the pump, but apparently it isn't.

According to the catalog the PA uses the 7" pickup tube, and the clear tube itself on mine is only 6-1/8". Measured from the bottom of the upper fitting to the end of the cup it is 7".

So my question is do I have the correct tube for the PA? If so, then I need to look at another cause for this problem.

Thanks in advance.

The wells are delivered with the shorter tube installed. The longer tube (only required for the Pro Angler) is in the box too.

Measured end to end (vinyl tube only, not the end fittings) the longer tube is 7"

Matt,

Thanks for the reply. I bought my livewell from an individual and I only got the shorter tube. Looks like I'm off to the hardware store for a 7/8" longer piece of tubing.

Thanks again,
