Sometime in the recent past, one of you guys posted a fix for the pre 2010 PA's to move the rudder control from under the seat to the side of the seat. I'd like to see how it is done, as I neeeeeed to move mine. I continue to suffer with a sore left arm from trying to control the boat direction.
Somebody give me a little direction, please.

Check this link: http://s730.photobucket.com/albums/ww30 ... /?start=20

It helped me reposition my steering handle, and since then I've had no problems making course corrections. The handle sits at a comfortable position for my arm, by my side and when I need to make corrections, I can easily reach it without having to bend over.

Good luck
Bob

Bob, That's an awesome modification!!!! If it wasn't going to snow in a few hours I'd be drilling holes and making your mod come to life for me. Simple genius, just what the doctor ordered.
Question: Does the new mount wobble or have any additional stress???
Thanks again for some wonderful insight. Best mod I've seen in a while. Kudos brother. :D

Thanks, but I can't take credit for the mod. I got the pics and instructions from someone else on the hobie forum last year when I was researching a way to make the change. I used their instructions as a guide for modifying my PA and it has worked great ever since. There is no wobble or additional stress if you mount it down far enough to where the leading and trailing edges of the mount are in contact with the seat. In other words...Take your time when filing down the mount plate, just a little at a time, checking after each time to see how it fits against the seat. For mine, I first found the position and location on the seat where I wanted to mount it, then I drilled the holes, then I filed down the support ridges on the back of the mount and seat, a little at a time until I had a snug fit. Just be careful and don't file too deep or take off too much of the support ridges or the mount will lose some strength...Good Luck

Yakfish, I'm waist deep in snow at my house, the kayak is burried to do any mods; but this one will get done. I'm also going to be getting a bassyak set-up on my PA, pulling out all the stops and getting the best in everything the first time around. I'll always have the option to use the mirage drive(which will be kept in the front storage hatch(minus the white plastic tub). I seriously feel sorry for the fish this time around. I'll post pics when all that is done. Thanks again. MJ.
