I have a 2010 Hobie Mirage Sport. I want to upgrade. Already have a trade deal with a dealer. Question? :? I made the deal to trade up to the Outback with the Mirage motor. ( I fish on a major river with current). Or, now I am wondering weather to trade for the Pro Angler, minus the motor. I am a fisherman.

Any suggestions on experiences with these models would be appreciated. I loved the Sport, but I want more room.

If you are talking the eVolve motor system, be aware that the only place the eVolve mounts on the Pro Angler is through the mirage drive hole in the cockpit.

On the Outback, you have the option of mounting it in the mirage drive or on the rudder. If mounted on the rudder, you can use the mirage drive the same time you use the motor, which enhances both the motor and mirage drive systems.

If you are a big guy and need lots of room, go with the PA............it you want easy to load, maneuvering and the above option, then go with the Outback.

That is my HO, :|

Having the experience of owning most of th mirage drive exept for tandems if i were u i would go for th outback with th evolve, mythman made a good point with using th motor and drive together.

I have a 09 Pro Angler and a 09 Outback. I never use the OB, it only gets used as a loaner to friends that want to yak fish with me. the PA is the ultimate in stability, room for storage, and how comfortable it is. even though the OB is smaller and lighter it is a pain to move around because you only have the small straps at each end. the PA has man sized handles at each end.

Thanks to all. I think I will go with the Outback with the Evolve rudder mount. If anyone has this configuration, please comment.

How is everyone with the Evole "rudder mount" satisfied?

About a year ago Matt had mentioned that Hobie was working on a rudder-mount Evolve for the PA and the Island series....curious where that stands. I'd love to have the combination of power and stealth in the PA.

If I was going to mount an electric motor on a kayak it would be on the front of the kayak. You would have better control of the kayak like you do on a bass boat. That's just my opinion.

You can purchase conversion kits that put the eVolve on the back (not the rudder) of your Pro Angler.

However, if I were to do that, I would go with a different trolling motor.
