i have the p/a got it used love the boat .but my butt is killing me ive tryed 2 garden pad's still no comfort .tail bone is numb in 1 1/2 .is there any alternative to cushions (skwoosk , air bag by hobie )any help ..my ass hurts

You must have an aftermarket seat. My PA seat is sooo comfortable it is like fishing from a lawn chair.

In Canada, we have a store called Canadian Tire (go figure). It is a department, car, tools etc store. They have a gel seat cushion that normally sells for 29 or 39$ but about every 3 months goes on sale for $10. Most canadian yakers own 3 or 4 of these gel seats as they make it so much more comfortable.
Where are you located? Perhaps I could get one to you. They say everyone knows everyone with 5 degrees of separation. :)

De-Tension I checked the cushion out on their site, well worth a try for ten dollars. If you see it on sale give me a heads up, you'll have to figure the shipping or postage. If I figure from my end probably won't be correct or if you know the manufacturer may be able to track it down locally. Thanks

I also have found the PA seat needs a little tweaking to be comfortable enough for me. My butt is on the lean side, and it tends to wedge uncomfortably in the space between the seat and back portions of the seat. My first solution was to buy a cheap 2" white boat cushion for a back rest. This puts me ahead of the gap in the seat. Recently, I've tried the Hobie lumbar cushion as well. It didn't work for me as a lumbar cushion, but it is very comfortable on the seat (with the thicker end towards the front) in combination with my boat cushion on the backrest. There is no way to use the strap this way, but so far it stays put nicely with its sticky bottom. I'm sure this set up wouldn't work for everyone, but it might be worth a try for some other skinny folk.

it is the original seat i got it used .the seat mesh is stretched i could fit 2 1in knee pad's inder it but still my but was killing me it would be nice to get a hold of the dell seat at that price im from long island . i did theseat mod with the slide it was a good choice being i have a gut ..lol but i have to do some thing with the seat .

I am also on the lean side and found that when pedalling, my rear end would slip backward and wedge uncomfortably into the gap between the mesh seat and seatback. I got a Hobie lumbar support and this fixed the problem entirely. It is now a very comfortable ride for all-day excursions. On the down-side, the Hobie lumbar support has a design problem when used with the PA. The blow-up valve stem nozzle lines up exactly with the "hinge" area between the seat and seatback. So if you leave it in place when the seat is folded down, the valve stem will likely get pinched in the hinge when you raise the seat back up on your next trip out. All last summer this just kicked out of the way when the seat went up, but this March when I got out for the first time in sub-zero temp, the plastic was much more brittle and it shattered when it got pinched as I raised the back. No real reason the stem needs to be on the bottom corner of the lumbar support, as any other location would alleviate this problem.

I found the seat fine for sitting, but not not optimal for pedaling. This combination worked great for me:

The backrest gave a better pedaling position for more power and speed. The inflatable seat pad eliminated the sore butt. 8)

That's the idea, Roadrunner. At least with the boat cushion. I probably should try the i-comfort pad sometime, too. As I said I now have the lumbar pad on the seat, thick side forward. Just as you say, the cushion improves pedaling position, and the bottom pad pads the bottom. 8)

I've been using them since they first came out. They get used about 3 times weekly and have had no leaks and no issues. Great accessory! 8)
