Around here on the Georgian bay, we like to gig in the spring for rainbow ,white fish and lake trout ,we anchor in 20 to 60 feet's of water in front of rivers and use chum ,send down right under the boat with homemade chum can rigs. The tricky part is to stay over you,re chum pile in the wind and wave as the fish start coming in you down want to loose anchor .I welcome any advise and suggestions as what will be the best anchor weight and rope length and diameter for this boat .Thanks new owner.

No point in using a chain. The idea is to keep the anchor line as vertical as possible. In calm weather I'll go with just the cam cleat. If there are waves from wind or boats I'll employ the bungee to keep me from walking off of my spot.
