Again we're talking to different things, the PA is a boat, it's not a kayak, the hull configuration is much different. Tom now we're putting Gas motors  on these things, get it back to electric motors.

We put a gas motor on it to find out if there was any sort of hull limit in terms of speed. Just as we thought, you can continue pushing the PA faster and faster until and unless you can no longer steer it in a straight line.

Once we figured out that it wasn't the hull that was the limiting factor, we pushed forward with making a better prop. And we did.

Nobody told our PAs that they weren't kayaks. Please don't let them in on the fact that they're boats - if they find out they're boats we might no longer be able to get them to go more than 5 MPH.

One issue you're not looking at with the evolve is the battery replacement once it goes in a few years. Know your options front to back once you get involved in a motor system. There are pros and cons to anything out there, I must say you do get what you pay for. Whatever you may buy, have fun with it guys.

With the bigger center hatch on the new 12's and 14 battery storage become less of a problem. 2 22-NF agm's fit perfectly in the center hatch after removing the plano tray. The Powertec brand fit perfectly between the scupper tubes. This also allows the weight to be centered in the hull away from the bow.

I thought I'd share my knockoff version of the Bassyaks trolling motor set-up, complete with my do-it-yourself instructions.

I already had the trolling motor (minn-kota 30lbs), so the set up only cost me $70.58. $40 of the total was on the stainless steel mounting bracket, which I had fabricated locally.

I hope you find this a time saver and useful.

They will last for many, many years...

Lithium battery life expectancy: The life of a lithium battery is barely affected by charging cycles. It has no memory effect. Therefore, the battery can be fully recharged after every trip, regardless of the charge status shown on the display. Generally, a loss of capacity of 4% per year can be expected. Ageing is accelerated if the battery is exposed to high temperatures for long periods while fully charged.

Our recommendation: The battery can be used in very hot conditions but should be stored in a cool place away from the sun when not in use. 8 years after date of production, your battery needs to be inspected by a service center.

Matt .......... also the Lithium battery can be fully discharged where as the lead batteries usually only get about a 50% discharge before they fall below the 12 volt range so they last longer on the water ......

Thank you very much do-it-yuourself instructions. Now to make one too.

What thickness was the SS bracket. And do you have a way raise and lower the motor form the seated position?

Post subject:  Re: Bassyaks pro angler trolling motor

My mounting bracket is 1/8 thick. As far as raising and lowering...I use it primarily on the ocean, so I don't have a need really to raise and lower it. With that said, my next project is to find a way to do just that. But, it's low on my priority list.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, it's kind of close and does exactly what I need it to do...propel my PA. And, your right...the tape I used is not even necessary. The switch stays in place perfectly without it. By the way, I have used it over 20 times now and it works perfectly every time. I love it!
