Bubbleboy, thanks for all the pics. If been wanting to put a 898 on my Adventure Island but have been uncertain if it was possible. I think I can do it now. I'm going to order to 898 in the next day or two. If you have anymore tips send them my way. I'll take all the help I can get. It looks like AI mounts are still up in the air. I'll post some pics when i finish.
On the AI, what about using one of the RAM mounts that clamps around the outrigger bar at the front of the yak?? I guess the mount you choose really depends on where you want the sounder head to be when you're in the "drivers seat" ...
something akin to this from over at yakass.net (
http://yakass.net/articles/equipment/69 ... he-monster)
not sure if this will work, as I don't have access to an AI to see...
an option I like for routing the cable is this one:
http://yakass.net/articles/equipment/45 ... ie-outbackhowever it only works this way if you have a removable handle and a sounder with a small connector...
alternately:
A cable cover from your local chandlery (these are $4 at my local store)
which will allow up to a 32mm hole underneath... drill one at each end of the yak, and it looks nice and neat...
then use a RAM mount in the side pocket, with a Humminbird platform on the top
from:
http://ram-mount.com/CatalogResults/Par ... fault.aspxto end up looking like this:
Given an AI at full speed bounces around a lot, so the bigger ball will give better strength... I'd also strengthen the back of the mounting with some cutting board...
Unrealshots, that was you that was going to mount it on a Revo. I thought it was someone else. Send me some pics when you get it finished.
If I mounted mine on the Aka crossbar on my AI I dont think I could reach it comfortably even with the 5" clamp bar on it. But then I'm almost 52 and not getting any younger.
I'm thinking about mounting my 898 half way between the rudder "up" cleat and the crossbar so I can swing it up close when I'm operating it or swing it forward to get it out of the way when pedaling or fishing.
I think it would be great if we could get a longer clamp bar for the 1.5" ball so if would swing farther forward and back. I checked on Rams site but didn't see one, maybe I missed it.
I wouldn't mind using the 2.25" ball but the base plate is about 3.5" dia. too big to mount on the side of the AI. I can get a 2.25" ball with a smalller base but I guess I would have to buy it seperate.
Let me know what you guys think. I'll take all the help I can get. Thx
