Is the "Lowrance ready" feature in the PA 12 suitable only for Lowrance transducers or will I be able to install my Humminbird transducer in the port ? I have a Humminbird 383c and a Humminbird 798ciSI unit - both with built in GPS capability. :?

We have a hummingbird adapter for the PA 12. I believe it is actually listed in the spring catalog... don't have a copy with me.

Thanks Matt, I was all set to buy a PA14 whe. the 12 was announced. Now am going to wait until I can compare them side by side here in Austrslia before I decide. The ff readiness and the seat may well make the difference.

I did a search in the 2012 "Parts and Accessories" Spring Catalog and only came up with RAM mounts used for supporting the FF display screen. I didn't see anything for adapting a Humminbird transducer to fit inside the PA 12 Lowrance ready system.

Thanks for helping,

Iceflyer. :)

All the fish finder gear is on pages 32 and 33 in my downloaded copy, and there are a couple of install kits and a scupper mount but nothing about the new arrangement on the 12. Not really surprising as this would have had to be out some time before the 12 was announced and I don't suppose Hobie would have given any clues to upcoming releases. I suspect if anything is to be offered it will be in the next edition...Autumn??
I will not buy a 12 until I'm sure a Humminbird will fit but I assume that will be some months unless Hobie are planning a simultaneous world release. Australia is not the USA's closest neighbour so I hope it isn't too long - I'd really like to get on the water in a PA instead of my current tournament style tinny. It's just a matter of which PA now.

The PA 12 adapter did make it into the catalog list.

84505901 ADAPTER PLATE, HUMMINGBIRD FF

This part bolts to the inside of the FF ready plate to adapt to the hummingbird transducer.

Hey Matt,

Will the down imaging transducer for Humminbird fit into the housing?

The adapter has the ratchet looking attachment part. Not sure about the size, but I'd guess so. I'll ask Morgan to comment here.

Yes, the Humminbird Down Imaging Transducer will fit using the 84505901 ADAPTER PLATE, HUMMINGBIRD FF part.

There will be some interference in the side imaging because the bottom part of the transducer which shoots completely horizontally will be reading through part of the polyethelene hull. This would mean that the frequency on the most far reaching beams will be diluted. For the most accurate side imaging readings it is best to mount the transducer another way where the bottom half of the transducer is completely free of obstacles on both sides of its horizontal plane.

Thank you for the clarification. That actually helps me a lot.

Cheers. :D

Ditto that from iceflyer Matt. It's great to see such a quick and direct response. Yet another good reason to buy a Hobie.

Hi Morgan,

I sent you a mail about that but you didn't reply.

Does it mean we won't be able to use this transducer hole with Humminbird side imaging?
