Do you guys make your own? Use something else? Buy the expensive hobie ones? Trying to find a cheaper option.

Thanks. I am waiting to see what the new PA14 is going to be, but for now I got a outback. Going to do my first saltwater yak fishing. I plan on being upside down most of the day. Don't want to lose any rods. Been in really rough water on the delta, and clear lake. But I'm sure going through the surf is going to be entertaining.

I made my own leashes.
I went to the thrift store and bought up some of those cell phone charger cords, the coil kind. Then I attached some clips to them. Next, I put a split ring on the rod using a cable tie. Total cost; $1.25 each.

Go to home depot and buy a phone cored...$5. I made 7 leashes out of single one. Then put whatever kind of attachments on the end. Works great.

These are the ones I got:

They are well made, cheap and work great! I use them for everything. I got the 4 pack, but now I wish I had gotten the 6 pack, or even the 10 pack!

Good luck! :D

A fishing captain who posts on another site has suggested wrapping heavy mono (300# test) or weed eater line around a wooden dowel, then placing the dowel in hot water for a minute or less. Once removed from the water and cooled, you have a nice coiled line to be used as a leash or ???? Make whatever length you need.
