I saw some of these at a kayak fishing tournament last weekend.

I did not think too much about it at the time, but since then I have started transporting my PA by trailer and am now storing my rods inside the horizontal tubes during transport. My rod guides invariably get snagged on the PA storage tubes going in and out, and these "rod slicks" look like they may prevent this from occurring and protect things on a bumpy trailer ride as well. Anybody use these in the horizontal rod storage tubes? Do they fit the PA storage tubes OK? Are they worth the $10 cost?

Those are the latest knock-off of the "stick-jacket" which has been around awhile. A buddy of mine sold them for a few years so I wound up with several. They're pretty slick, work well, and your rods slip in and out of them very easily.

I've not used them on the PA but they're small enough to easily slip into the rod holder tubes. I suspect they'd work quite well.

You might try some local tackle shops - these type jackets now sell for well under $10 in many places.

I used these on my bay boat for years before I finally got tired of the storage issues. They don't roll up very well, and were always on top of whatever I needed out of the storage compartment. I wouldn't even consider adding something else to store on my PA. The ones I had were secured to the rod with small bungee cords, and the metal rusted quickly and had to be replaced often. I suppose for transport they would do fine, but I would definitely leave them in the truck before launching.

I use them. Protects those expensive rods, when sliding them into the tubes. I haven't had any issues using them, and coil them up and stow them under the seat. You still need to be a little careful when sliding the rod in and out, especially spinning rods with the larger guides.

I think Bass Pro Shops sells their brand for about $6.00

we use them. buy the proper size (diameter) for your rod and guides. they slide in and out of the PA 12 and 14 rod holders with no issue. we have both the rod slicks brand and bass pro brands. i think the rod slicks are a little heavier quality.

cheers.
