Hey fellas, I was giving my PA (2011) a nice wash over the weekend. I went to take the seat out and found that the right hand tightener thingamajiggy was stuck. The other was easy to loosen. Any tips on how to loosen without causing any damage? Incidently, I haven't taken the seat out since I got the yak in February. Thanks in advance. |

If you are talking about the "Seat Front Knob"... I recently had a problem with the threaded collar that is inside the knob, breaking away from the knob itself. see below thread... http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=44993 If yours is stuck...I would suggest moving the seat around slightly and see if this helps reposition and try again. |

If you've never removed the seat retainer konb since you picked up your PA, I would take it back to the dealer. It sounds like it may be coss threaded. Those thumb nobs should go on and off easily. The retainer bolts in the boat are molded into the hull, so you definitely want that to be covered by warranty if you were not the one who mucked up the threads. |

After using my PA in salt water for a couple of days I noticed a little corrosion on the studs. Cleaned them off with a soft wire brush and put a little anti-seize (like used on aircraft spark plugs) on them. Seems to help. One caution. Anti-seize is nasty stuff and will stain the kayak if you get it on the plastic. You might want to just use a little petrtoleum jelly or light weight grease. |
