Instaling a fishfinder on a 2013 PA12. It has the built in spot with the mount. One set of instructions I have say to glue the transducer to the bottom for a through hull application.
The other directions I have say to leave a 1/2" gap betweem the transducer and the bottom.

Any insight please?
Jim

I have the same boat. My instructions did NOT say to epoxy anything. I have the 1/2" gap between the transducer and the mounting plate base on my Lowrance Elite-4 DSI and it works perfectly. I would not epoxy it in place. Besides not being able to remove it if you had to, you run the risk of bubbles in the epoxy that will disturb the sonar image or the transducer getting mounted crooked permanently. There is no advantage to the epoxy but there are advantages to not using it.

+1 also using the duck goop will delay an accurate temp reading.

I'm running a 798 HB, Perfect Picture.

Marble Man,

Good observation, I did not think of that but you are right!

I installed it without any type of adhesive. I mounted it 1/2" off the bottom. I took it out wed and everything works great.
Jim

PS: Caught a few small walleye and 1 crappie.
