I ordered the anchor and trolley system with my new PA 12. Now I'm wondering what to do with all that anchor line. I've seen DIY projects involving foam noodles and pvc pipes; also, reels that store and retrieve the line. The latter seem originally designed for scuba divers and might work for kayaks. Would that be my best bet--go to a dive store and get a reel and buoy there and use it on my PA? (Haven't seen any of these on kayak accessory sites.) What's the best solution for storing anchor line when not in use?

I use a extension cord wheel to retrieve. I like the scuba reel retrieve better because of space. I will probably switch to the scuba reel.

Heavy duty retractable dog leash. Only for fresh water however.

What type of water will you be using the PA in? Unless you are in deep swift water, I see no need for an anchor

I fish in saltwater marshes and only use a SOP or just hold in the current by using the Mirage Drive if in deeper water.

Mine is not in a PA, however this works well. The mesh bag is from a sailing shop for a rope bag.

I simply wrap the anchor line around a float buoy,as I normally anchor in the same depth of water. I use a 100 ft. Line to anchor in 20-30 foot depths. It seems to work OK. (Saltwater for TOG)

WalMart had little plastic take apart reels for Xmas lights. I got some of those for use around the trailer. Wound my 75 foot anchor line on the reel and then trimmed it to be only the needed diameter (about 7 inches) it works great stuffed at the side under the rail on the port side where my anchor line comes from the rear. For the front anchor I have 50 feet of line in large loops that stuff into the bottom rod holder on the port side. You can see the green reel peeking out in the first picture and the line in the rod holder in the second picture.
