Just picked up a new pa14 with a double trailerex trailer. The trailer seems about 3 feet longer than it needs to be. Can it be shortened easily? |

How? Besides undoing where the two sections are joined and cutting it shorter. It looks like the carriage can be moved forward a few feet. Is this correct? |

The main center beam can be cut to any length you desire. It's a simple, straight extrusion. If you have a cold cut saw it will take 15 seconds. If you have to use a hacksaw, it will take maybe 3 minutes. You can cut from either end, or from the middle. If you cut from the middle, take pains to get a nice, straight cut. And remember, you can always take off more, but it's a pain to put any back on. Measure twice, even three times, and cut once. Make sure you aren't removing length that you may need for any reason. |

If you add a couple of bicycle safety flags or some other vertical poles elevated to say 40" or more, so you can see/ID the last crossbar on the trailer....the vision issue is solved I did this with my Trailex trailer and I have no backing/sight issues. The extra long trailer tongue was a pain the the arse with my Outback. I also cut 8" off the front cross cross member as I kept running into it and my legs were not happy after an encounter. |
