Getting closer on the PA.
Picked up a like new Triton trailer, double, yesterday.
Also found a Thule cargo carrier that I am going to mount on the #2 side for storing gear since I will not need that slot for another boat right now. Got a great deal on the once used cargo carrier.
Will get the PVC components and start the trailer conversion this weekend.
Headed over to Bass Pro Shops this afternoon to look at Lowrance Elite 5X DSI, on sale and I can switch it back and forth between the PA and my bayboat.
Trying to get everything ready then go boat hunting.
A dealer within an hour has two on the floor but I need to get trailer ready before I drive over and attempt to seal the deal.

Thanks for all the help and advice from everyone on this forum. The pictures and videos posted here have been the motivation so far.
Really enjoy looking at the various rigging pics.
I want to keep mine as simple and least cluttered as possible. Way too many great options out there. You can sink a ton of money in the "add-on" stuff.

Will try to post pics as things progress.

Go get 'em!!!

Picking my PA12 up on Saturday, provided the "ice storm" hasn't messed up the roads too badly...

I built a removable frame for my mesh side trailer, PVC pipes on top... I can use it in the garage for storage too... Had a local trailer guy build me a new trailer tongue that's got an extra 2.5 feet on it. Now I have a full foot of clearance between the nose of the PA and the back of the van while towing!

The battery pack is waiting for the Mark 4 combo to be installed, and I'm waiting for some decent weather to get in the water!

Hmm, I think I may be nearly as excited as you are, Capt Gary...!

you might be just a little ahead of me. Still need to work on trailer, besides working, yard work and honey do's.

But getting there.

Keep us posted on yours. Good luck!

Capt. Gary,

Sounds like you are well on your way to having a decked out YAK. When I was rigging mine the best advice I received was too really think things through before you mount items. I fished a couple of times with a "Bare YAK" to see where I wanted things, and to see what interferes with landing fish, getting in and out...

Post some PICs when your done.

Tim

salmontim, your post is taken very close. I have been doing a ton of reading and watching as this project moves forward and I believe you are exactly right.

I have always been an "equipment nut".
All the add-on items look great and there are there some really creative fisherman out there. But as things progressed I began to realize that the boat, a couple of rods and safety equipment would cover about 98% of what I envision my kayak fishing to do. Just adjust your tackle for the target of the day and go.
Just like in my large bayboat, many days less tackle makes the day more productive.

Actively decking out my trailer this week. Hope to finish and be ready for a PA within a couple of weeks.
Visited my closest dealer on Sat. and he has a shipment of PAs coming in early May. Need to decide color. I like the olive, but worried about fade. Will talk with Hobie tech services today on that.

Really appreciate everyones comments and suggestions.

Capt. Gary,

Thanks for the feedback. Your right about the amount of tackle you need. When fishing for Stripers in New England I like it when I get everything into 1 small box. If I am throwing soft plastic I'll nee another box, But it all fits below the hatch.

I should be picking up my trailer for my PA's (12&14) around the first of May. I have a system which will haul them in my pickup (6.5 ft bed with a Rack Back) but when both are being hauled their isn't much room for any thing else.
