So I am new to Kayaking and will be picking my PA14 up next week. This will be very 1st kayak and don't have any experience kayaking before. I wanted to know what does everyone where when they are out on their yaks fishing? Do you wear a wetsuit, dry suit, just board shorts and a top, etc.? I will be fishing mostly saltwater and will be out most of the year as long as conditions allow, maybe not in the winter. I am purchasing guy cotten surf top soon as I will be replacing my aquaskinz surf top for surf fishing. Will the guy cotten top work as a dry top on the kayak? |

I'm in North Florida so our winters are pretty mild. When I fished this winter I wore jeans, a sweat shirt, and a wind proof jacket. In the summer I'm usually in a pair of light Columbia pants, and a long sleeve Columbia shirt. The PA is such a stable platform that I've never really needed any technical gear. The only time I really even deal with spray is when fishing in 25-30mph winds or more. |

Full on dry suits are the trend up here in NJ. I like to use Kokatat Tempest Dry Pants and NRS splash top together with the proper insulating layers underneath. All synthetic in case I turtle. May I ask where you are in NJ? |

Awesome, I'm south of you. I usually fish Cape May Co. and Del.Bay. |

Just a rule of thumb to remember, when the air and water temp equal less than 100 degrees, hypothermia can be present. I'm in the south, so a decent, breathable rainsuit with velcro cuffs works for me most of the time. I never wear cotton next to my skin, only wool or high tech fast-dry synthetics. |
