I am replacing the bungees that secure the front hatch of my PA 14.
It's been an issue from day one, the stitching for the pull tag compromised the rubber
leaving a flabby plastic shell in the most important point.

I have removed the back retainer clip, but what about the round retainer at the front.

Screw out, pull out, how does this part come out to tie a new bungee behind it?

That front one screws out...you'll have to get creative with a pair of needle-nose pliers or something to grip those two tabs, enough to turn it.

Hobie makes this SS tool, "screw in fitting" to remove/install the plastic plug.....71115101.....catalog price is $7.19.

I have been looking around for replacement bungee, but have not found the correct size to fit the front hatch.

The size is smaller that normal bungee, and I do not see the diameter in any of the Hobie parts breakdown.

What is the diameter of the front hatch bungees?

My PA-14 front hatch bungee cord OD = 0.25".....it's the same cord criss-crossed behind the seat storage area.
From the Hobie parts catalog, it should be P/N RS014BLK @ $0.30/foot......"super stretch shockcord".
