Guys, just got my new to me PA 14. Its a 2011 model. I want to mount my transducer to shoot thru the hull but wondered if turbulance form the mirage drive would cause problems if I mounted it under the seat? Any suggestions would be much appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Not sure about mounting it behind the Mirage Drive. I have always mounted mine in front of the Mirage drive with NO problems.

There is a nice spot just ahead of the mast tube to mount the transducer....make sure it is flat to the inside hull....no or minimal air bubbles if you use marine goop.......I used "Duct Seal" in my old Outback....electrical insulating putty.....it works like clay....from Home Depot electrical dept.....cheap and allows for easy relocation or removal if desired. The Humminbird fish finder worked really well with Duct Seal.

If you have a Humminbird fish finder, they make a kayak transducer kit that works perfect in that area in front of the sail post. There are kits for both sizes of transducers and you can mount it in that area and not interfere with the front storage bucket. Kit comes with everything you need.

Lima Eyecatcher,

I'm curious where you are from. I live in Ohio and wonder if you are nearby me. Sorry I can't help with the transducer. I'm hoping to get a Pro Angler soon myself.

Thanks guys, I will mount it infront of the mast mount. I wasnt sure if it would come out of the water there that is the only reason I was going to mount it under the seat.

Plus, if you mount it in the front, you will see the fish sooner

We mount the transducers behind the sail mast tube and in front of the Mirage Drive well. The mast tube will unscrew to make it easier to install. We then use the new Hobie 12v Battery Holder to secure the battery to the sail tube

Thanks for all the input guys. I got it mounted today. I mounted it in front of the mast post then I used a Cabelas dry box, dilled a small hole, put a rubber grommet into the hole and ran my wires for the Cabelas battery. I then was able to squeeze the box between the mast post and the mirage drive slot. I will post pics when everything is done. I liked the idea off seeing the fish sooner lol.
