So one morning after launching, I switched on the Hobie Evolve2 motor mounted in the drivewell to take me out to my fishing spot, but instead of humming up, the E45 error code came up on the display. The quick fix in the Torqeedo manual is to shut off the motor & turn it on again. This did not correct the error code & the motor would not run.

When I got home I recharged the battery to 100% & tried again to run the motor on the bench, but E45 came up again.

Eventually had to send the motor back to Torqeedo for analysis.

Turns out that the Torqeedo tech found water inside the pylon. He said further analysis showed that there was a manufacturer error on one of the O-rings under the caps. It wasn’t a lot, but after heating up and cooling down a lot, it finally gave out.

Torqeedo is replacing the motor under warranty.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Yes, multiple times..........but long before they admitted to it being a mfg. equipment failure. Actually, I was required to pay for two new motor installations @ over $400 each time. This was on the original evolve motor.

That is why I sold my evolve.........IMHO a piece of junk!

Bummer on the failure, but good to see Torqeedo step up!
