I just upgraded to a PA 14 and opted for the H-bar. The boat is fantastic, but the plastic tether piece that holds the retaining pin on one of the H-bar supports snapped in two the first day I brought it home. It was cold and brittle and broke without much movement.

Fortunately, my dealer, Great Outdoor Provision Co. in Raleigh, NC gladly replaced the broken tether with a stainless cable and provided me additional cables which I easily replaced at home by drilling out the pop rivets and pop riveting the stainless hardware.

Hobie should consider switching to stainless tethers and stop using the fragile plastic.
