Are you folks here in the U.S. who have these in hand getting them from your dealer? My dealer cannot get them yet.

I just asked my Hobie dealer to order direct from Hobie Parts folks using the part number Matt Miller gave above.....84612001 RUDDER BLADE, LARGE PRO A.

The day that I saw that the larger rudders were available, I called my dealer. They were aware this accessory was coming but didn't have a delivery date or part number. They ordered several that same day. It took about a week for it to arrive in the dealership.

Does anyone have the link to the exploded view of the rudder assembly. I want to make sure that I put it back together correctly

Gemitaur....I am not aware of an exploded view being available. My larger rudder did not come with any info from Hobie.
Suggest going back to see the thread posted by Kalgrm on Jan 29....click on his hot link titled click on "try it now guys".....that takes you to the very good photos Graeme made available.
I commented (Feb 1) on removing the stainless screw from the rudder pivot assembly....that was the hardest to unscrew owing to the Loctite on the threads.
The spring only goes in one way and pay attention to the small hole the end of the spring fits into on the rudder......not hard to change over...take your time and it will be done before you know it!

Ditto with the Dr....no info from Hobie.

I had no problem with the pivot pin screw...came apart easy altho I did heed the head's-up from the Dr. (Thx Doc).

The trouble I encountered had to do with getting the pin out that held the old rudder stainless steel pivot piece shaft to the steering drum (which is plastic). Ended up ruining to pin. Replaced with a SS cotter pin.

Waiting for the snow & ice to stop before seeing how much better the beast turns now.

Hard for me to picture...a photo would help. What part of the assembly is rubbing / hanging on the cover? (By cover, I assume you mean the cover over the steering drum).
I did not see any plastic washers in my rudder assembly.

I sounds like you did not fully reinstall the SS 1/8" allen-head cap screw that holds the rudder into the steering drum.....I would make sure its really tightened all the way into the rudder shaft.

Got the PA14 out with the larger rudder today for the 1st time. The whole boat seems to be more responsive...turns quickly when peddaling along with any speed & turns sooner when starting from a standstill. I am quite pleased. Thx Hobie!

Just took PA out with new larger rudder. Have to say steering was much improved. Well worth the money to upgrade!
