I Recently acquired a Mantis Bimini for my Hobie PA14. I have run into a difficult time locating the mounting system to attach it to the rear tank well area using 4 well nuts. Does anyone know who has them available? I have checked with my local dealer and they sold their last one back in July. Has anyone dyi a mount of their own? Any help would be much appreciated. Tight lines, Adrian

Pro-Techt has a range of mounts they offer: https://www.pro-techt.com/index.php/mantis-mounts.html

Thanks Matt. I have already visited their site, unfortunately they do not offer the "Hobie" version mount. I believe there are a couple mounts that could be modified but I was hoping to avoid the hassle of fabrication. I thought as , Director of Parts and Accessory Sales Hobie Cat USA, you might have access to inventory of "Hobie" products through your network of dealers. I will continue to search for this discontinued Hobie/Protecht Part. Thanks for your time, Adrian Acosta

We don't have any inventory data for what dealers have in stock... these are not Hobie owned businesses. Not similar to a car dealership and integrated inventory systems.

We sold out of mounts some time ago.

Sorry can't help finding this mount, however I would not recommend using the well nuts.
They will not hold. I added a strip of 1/4" thick aluminum on the under side.

When you do find a mount, assuming your talking about the long flat mount that's adjustable in width.

I have that mount and on an outback. I used to yakattack tracks mounted on each side of the well and on top of the yak, right behind the seat. I use T nuts and standard nuts to mount the Bimini mount to the yak. Makes it easy to remove completely and use the track for other items.

As the Hobie adjustable version is no longer available. How about a plank of plastic material (like the PA mounting boards) or aluminum with the basic mount from Pro-Techt mounted in the middle. Would work the same.

Miller that's a perfect idea. Little starboard or pvc lumber from home center stores.

That look really good! Tough enough to roll over / capsize? Rust issues? @ $20!

What am I missing? If Hobie makes it for their yaks why doesn't it come with the correct mount? I have actually thought about getting one of these for next summer.

The seat umbrella looks great. If it does rust, for $20 buy another.

Pro-Techt makes the Bimini still. We quit carrying them due to supplier issues.

We ran out of Biminis in 2013 and sold out of the mounts we designed for them earlier this year.

Thanks for the replies. I will look into the starboard option. Also like the idea of using the gear trac for removable/ strong mounting points. I already own the Mantis but that chair umbrella looks pretty cool as a cheap alternative. Thanks again gentleman!

Just ordered the Sport Brella from Amazon, had to try this option. At that price you can't go wrong. Thanks for the tip.
