I made the mistake of bringing a soft cooler on my recent trip. It is inevitable a fabric cooler will find a treble hook it really likes...

Anyways, I am considering getting the 30qt Engle cooler. However, I am trying to figure out the best way to secure the cooler to the PA without taking up deck space.

Curious what everyone else does out there?

You know that Hobie makes a soft cooler that fits in the front storage area with the rod tubes. You would lose the big white bucket, but if you carry your other gear in a crate or some other enclosure behind your seat, then that would allow you cold storage definitely out of the way of hooks. :D

I posted this quite a while ago. I have two PA-14's now and each has a similar bracket on the rear deck to hold rods and tools while keeping a cooler from sliding around. Easy to make from 1.25" PVC.
