I would like to find a direct way to install the Scotty Trap-Ease to my H-Rail on my PA14. Hobie dealers were not helpful. Has anyone else needed a pulley to pull anchor or crab pots? If so what have you done. We have quite a bit of current in PUGET Sound in places and extra weight is necessary. Robert |

That leads to a question I have wondered about, but not found a good answer for. What is the load bearing capacity of the factory installed H-Rail? Crab Pots do not sound light! Especially if they are filled with crabs. (Mind you, my experience with crab pots is directly proportional to the number of episodes of Deadliest Catch I have watched.) |

I would be slightly concerned about putting that much constant torque on the H-Rail over time, as constant flexing of the hull could cause deck cracking and/or deformations. I'm inquiring with our Engineering Department about the load bearing capacity of the H-Rail. Please wait for further response on this topic. Thanks |

Hey, Howie did you get an answer. A few members on our local forums have the trap ease on the mounting boards but the new models with the longer h rails make it too far up. |

Engineers don't recommend that amount of torque to be consistently put on the rail. |

Hi Howie, Responding to an ancient thread here. We have a new 2022 Hobie Mirage Outback, and also a new Scotty Trap-Ease. We were planning on putting it on the H-rail until we saw this post. If that is not recommended, then... where IS recommended? We need to put this thing somewhere. We'd prefer not to have to drill the boat body, but we want to do whatever is most structurally sound. Update to my Q above: how about using this adapter to mount to the H-track? Is that a stronger position than the H-rail? |

Here is another option that spans both the rail and the track: https://www.snipeairindustries.com/prod ... rack-mount Seems like a much more stable base for the Trap-ease. Four attachment points total: 2 on the track and 2 on the trail. Thoughts? |
