I own a 2013 PA-14 and it does not have the tracking skeg as found on both the newer PA-12's and PA-14's.

I have no problem "tracking" since I installed the optional, larger rudder. I also down rig fish most if the time and tracking is important to me.....it's a non-issue.

Since the PA-12 is 2' shorter, it stands to reason it might turn slightly quicker, but beyond that, IMHO the sales guy is blowing hot air

Regardless, pick the PA you think best suits your needs. They are great fishing platforms.

In general, the longer kayak will track better than a shorter kayak.

For me, I find the PA14 is faster than the PA12. The extra room outweighs the benefit of saving a few pounds..., but your mileage may vary.
