I recently purchased a Hook2 5” and I’m looking for the best way to install FF and battery.

Is the hobie install kit the way to go? Is the rear hatch a better option? If rear option, what did you use to hold battery?

I want it to mount onto my H rail. Besides a 1” ram ball, what else will I need?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you have a Pro Angler...The Hobie install kits are definitely the way to go and include everything you need to wire up and power a fish finder and mount your battery. You will need a couple additional components for mounting the head unit (see below). As far as battery placement, there's a couple options: either mount the battery holder to the sail mast receiver or rest the battery holder in the lip of an 8" round hatch. On the Pro Angler I recommend mounting to the sail mast. We offer the Lowrance Ready installation kits with both a lithium battery and a sealed gel cell battery.

Here's what you'll need to wire up and mount the whole system:

72020070 Lowrance Ready Fish Finder Install kit w/gel cell OR 72020145 Lowrance Ready Install kit w/ lithium
72023053 RAM Lowrance Base 1"
84620101 H-Rail RAM Ball 1"
72020207 Lowrance Ready TotalScan Mounting Plate

*If you plan to mount a 7" or larger screen, I'd recommend going with a 1.5" H-Rail RAM ball (part 84620151) and 1.5" Lowrance Base (part 72023054)

Thank you for the detailed response! Yes, it is a PA14. What’s the main differences between the lithium battery and sealed gel battery?

This directly from Nocqua:

NOCQUA Lithium battery vs. Traditional Power Sources

• Lightweight and compact; the 10Ah NOCQUA battery weighs in at 22.4oz
• The NOCQUA battery is protected within a silicone case for shock and vibration
absorption.
• Battery ports feature a thumbscrew and gasket
• The connection ports are coated in a nanoparticle protective lubricant that
displaces any moisture, removes oxides, and actively prevents corrosion.
• Overcharge and cell failure protection; intended to keep the angler and the battery safe, internal circuitry is designed to
protect overcharge and cell failure.
• Full cycles without damage to battery; The NOCQUA battery will not collect memory while being charged and
discharged.
• The NOCQUA battery is rated for a 500+ cycle lifespan.
• No prescribed orientation to store the NOCQUA battery
• Due to the prominence of li-ion batteries in most commercial electronics,
recycling depots are prevalent everywhere in the world.
• Recycled commercial li-Ion batteries can be utilized within industrial applications
or parted out for new commercial life.
• The NOCQUA battery’s universal connector allows for multiple plug and play expansion
adapters. Additional accessories expand the possible applications of the NOCQUA
battery, creating a power ecosystem around the central, mobile component.
• Features an auto-shut off and battery life indicator
