Will a PA sink?

Ok, dumb question for the day.

If you fill a PA 14 (or any of the PA models) with water, will it sink or will the foam blocks inside provide enough floatation to keep it afloat?

It obviously makes a difference how much other "stuff" we pile on top of them, but are they intended to be inherently buoyant?

It won't sink with the flotation installed.....floats like a swamped boat.
If it filled with water, you can pump out the water with a hand pump.......I always carry one for emergency use.....hopefully not for me, but for someone else if needed

I carry a pump as well but I sure hate to think about ever having to use it. It won't eliminate the need for the pump, but I don't think it would hurt to put some swim noodles inside the hull for extra insurance.

It would probably turtle and you wouldn't be able to mount it. Be more of a floating bouy

Take forever to hand pump out a fully filled PA. if it was that full most likely a structural failure so defeating the purpose anyway. Hand pump wouldn't reach the recesses either if it wasn't sitting horizontally upright. Seen people struggle doing this with a swamped PA dragged up onto a sloping beach head
