I just bought my 1st Hobie...a PA-14 and trying to decide on a cart. I've seen some reviews on the Trax 2-30 that say the welds on the frame completely failed...but those reviews all seem to be old. Didn't see any of the newer reviews mentioning that issue.

Anyone know if Hobie has corrected the problem on newer versions of that cart?

Also, hows the beach tires do on harder surfaces (concrete, gravel, hard pack dirt)? I'd primarily be using on hard surfaces, but take a few beach trips a year that I'd like to be able to bring the kayak along and roll across soft sand to launch off the beach.

Breaking welds is old info. Been better for several years.

Works on hard surfaces, but takes a bit more effort... just like hard vs soft bike tires.

Thanks Matt.

Do the hard tires go over sand at all? Just wondering if maybe I'd be better off getting the cart with the hard tires since that'll be 90% of the times I take the PA out...only maybe 2-3 times a year I'd probably be going across sand

Hard tires are no good on soft sand. They plow.

I would use the 2-30.
