I had also considered the hobie sidekicks stabilizers but when I started to factor in that I may want to run an outboard, well that changed everything so I went ahead with the AI ama option. This was a personal choice for me and yes it's a bit more costly but honestly I can't put a price on my safety... It took me a couple of years to save up for this and have no regrets. I'm in this for the long haul and the way I mounted mine I have the option to keep it and move it to a newer model hobie as no mounting holes were drilled into the kayak. A couple of years ago I also mounted a safety ladder to the rear of the PA. Again no holes were drilled into the kayak so this is another mod that can move along with me as a newer model kayak may eventually come into play. Posted below are a couple of videos I made for those who may be interested in what I did.
