Our first Division 9 Points Regatta of the year, Bare What You Dare, is just a month away. It will be held on the weekend of May 10-11 at the Keowee Sailing Club near Seneca, South Carolina. This regatta will be the first of three HCANA Points Regattas to be held in Division 9 this year. The three regattas will constitute the Division 9 Championship Points Series, and we will award trophies to the top three skippers after the last race of the series. We invite anyone with a H16 or H18 to come out and race for HCANA points. All other catamarans are welcome and may participate with their respective classes or in open classes. H16's and H18's will have their own start. If you live outside of the Division 9 area, we would love to have you come give us some more competition :D

Here's a link to the Keowee Sailing Club: http://www.keoweesailingclub.com I haven't seen the NOR posted there yet, but if you want to sent me an email at [email protected], I'll send one to you. The fee for Bare What You Dare is very reasonable, only $40 for single handers, $45 if you have a crew. Preregistration is simple, just send an email to Rick Harper, [email protected], and tell him that you are coming, what kind of boat you have, and what fleet you'll be sailing with (H16, H18, F18, open spin, open non-spin, etc.). Rick is your primary contact for this regatta.

The other Division 9 Points Regattas are:

James Island Yacht Club Annual Regatta (One-Design classes only), June 14-15, Charleston Harbor, SC, http://www.jiyc.org, contact: Nick Bostic, [email protected]

Indian Summer Regatta, October 11 – 12, Lake Waccamaw Sailing Club, Lake Waccamaw, NC, http://www.waccamawsailing.com, contact: Philippe Laurent, [email protected]. Check the NOR when published to determine applicability to other catamaran or monohull classes.

These clubs are making an effort to support one-design Hobie racing, so let's make an effort to support their regattas! These three events represent our best opportunities to have big fleets in Division 9 this year. So come on out and join us!! Notify your buddies and help spread the word.

Thanks
