Taking a cue from Yakass, I've combined a large RAM Tough Claw with a Railblaza Miniport.



There are several round raised nubs on the Tough Claw that I may remove but the Miniport does not spin easily as is.

I'm hoping to test it this weekend and report back.

The Tough Claw/Railblaza combo worked well. It's nice to be able to quickly reposition the camera.

Hi, Read thru this thread and just wondered there are any recent changes in optimal setups for a boom on rail mount for a GoPro. I'm about to purchase a Hero 5 black for my 2015 TI, and the amount of options are making my head spin. Want to start simple, thinking the Ram large tough claw, and that Railblaza miniport that scc showed, any thoughts on the most stable boom with some length and positioning flexibility? Anyone had issues with, hmmm, the camera falling off in any conditions, or best position to mount to avoid getting the sail? Any advice appreciated! Thanks in advance!

(Mostly sailing lately in Sandy Hook Bay and around Barnegat Inlet in NJ.)

Avoid a tall boom on the forward aka! Just yesterday, sail hit the camera and broke the base of the GoPro housing. Thankfully, it happened on shore so the camera was recovered. The RAM Toughclaw with Railblaza miniport held strong as did the Railblaza three piece boom.

Thanks scc! I just got the GoPro, looking thru the large ram claw/boom setups. Will keep it low for now!

I've no problem mounting, it's the lack of sound, muffled from the case cover, any suggestions?
