Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club will hold their annual SoL race on Sunday July 3rd. They don't have a 2016 NOR up yet but last year's is here:

http://www.fleet250.org/upload/race/sta ... ctions.pdf

It's about 40 NM, from the bottom of Sandy Hook pretty much straight north through the Verrazzano Narrows and then around Liberty Island and back. The F18 guys can do it in two hours if the conditions are right, but last year there were boats on the course for more than ten. All but one of the H16s took the "short course" and turned around at the bridge. However, in other years H16s have done it in ~4 hours.

The write-ups I have found were all on the F18 site.

Maybe see you there...

2 hours for an F-18 is highly optimistic.

I set the F-18 record in 2006 on a Hobie Tiger at 2 hrs 40 min and was definitely hauling the mail both ways. I still had 2 Inter 20s beat me (I corrected out over one of them to get second overall). All three of us broke the prior course record of 2 hr 45 min.

It's a long race for 1 day if the wind isn't on.

Yep, I had my numbers mixed. The current record is 2:30? Not sure if that was an 18 or a 20.

Who's going?

This year's race was not one for the record books. The fastest boats struggled to break 6 hours and finishers were on course for nearly ten.

Corrected, a Hobie 16 took second place.
