Post subject:  Missing Hobie Hotlines

On behalf of the Hobie Class Association, I'm trying to amass a complete collection of Hobie Hotline Magazines from the beginning of time (1971) through the last issue published (May/Jun '95)

Here's what's missing:
    Everything pre-May 1974
    1976 Apr/May
    1978 Jan/Feb
    1981 Nov/Dec
    1982 May/Jun
    1982 Nov/Dec (I have a photocopy)
    1984 Jul/Aug
    1985 Mar/Apr

Any of you old-timers out there willing to part with some old magazines? If not, how about scans or photocopies?

:D Hi Matt: I am out of town, but will check my copies upon return early next month. Should have several of the copies you are missing. I think I have a complete set, except some were cut up by my son, for show and tell in school. Would be glad to share all except the Bo Derrick, which I may have to keep.

Two problems, Jim -

I don't own the copyright. Neither does the class association. While I don't think Hobie Cat Co. (who does own the copyright) would mind, it is an issue (no pun intended) that would need to be addressed.

Time - there are approximately 150 issues from 1971 - 1995. At an average of about 50 pages each, that's 7500 pages to scan (and in some cases repair/clean up). I don't have the proper equipment to handle that volume. It would be an immense task on my little HP flat-bed scanner (without a document feeder).

Sorry.

Wow! Well, okay I see your point. I didn't realize there were so many issues or that they were so big. I was thinking it was more along the line of 20 articles.

Oh well! :(

Post subject:  How can I get parts 2 & 3 of "The celebrated Sixtee

I have read the first one of them and I think it's really interesting. Now, I want to read the two others but I have been looking for them and I can't find them.

Could anybody upload them? Why don't create a section including articles and tips?

In the other hand. Hotline magazine is actually being published? Is there a way to get old hotline magazines?

Thanks in advance and, please, forgive my english.

Rony,

I'll scan the second and third installments and post them for you to download when I get home from work today.

The Hobie HOTLINE has not been published since mid-1995. It required too much subsidy from the Hobie Cat Co. and they pulled the plug on it.

It's sucessor has been the Hobie Class News, which you can download at http://www.hobiecat.com/hobieclass. It is put together on a volunteer basis by the Hobie Class Association of North America.

Wow, Thanks Mary.

I remember sailing my first Hobie 16, a 1976 in 1985. The purchase of my first new Hobie 16 in 1987. I now sail a H-18, 1989 vintage. It would be interesting in reading some old history related to the Hobies.

Some day maybe a Tiger? :D
